[#4303190]

I'm considering purchasing a selle italia max flite gel flow saddle to replace my current SGD Bel Air.

I have used the SDG for the past three years on both my '09 Crush and more recently on my '12 Five Pro.

I generally find the SDG to be quite good but after a few hours I do start to feel the ache coming on. Will the Selle flite make a considerable difference to my ride compared to the SDG?

Also, and more importantly, I plan on doing the full SDW in 3 weeks time so will need a saddle that will be kind to me over the distance.
Any advice or personal experiences are appreaciated.

Cheers, Ben.

Why is there always a funnyguy on here? Not quite the Orange Five/White Audi thread you might expect the odd silly comment from......

sorry :/
i think you're going to have to take some out for long rides. try some cheap ones like the Spoon (about £15 on sale from wiggle), or the on-one bignose (around £12.50 when i got mine, normally double that). expensive doesn't always equal comfort, i find.. once you find a make you like, then you can spend more on leather/ti versions etc 🙂
Selle personally didn't suit my bum...
or you can go to shop with one of those arse moulds and get a sit-bone width, which reduces the guess work a bit.
er was that more helpful?

Definitely more helpful than the latter comment, yeah. 😉 on a serious note, I am happy to spend around £60-£70 on a saddle but I will agree, the more expensive the saddle does not necessarily mean it will be better.

I've always found the SDG saddles to be about as comfortouble as I can get, and have come to the conclusion a long time ago that no matter what my rump gets perched upon its gonna let you know it's not comfy after 3 hours.

If you are looking to change best do it sooner as a long ride with a new saddle could be a bad move,

I was thinking the same thing, SCB. A long ride on a new perch could be a bad move....

Fizik gobi xm ! Dont really matter which one there all the same bar weight and price. I had a sgd bel air before owning a gobi and suffered with back pain on long rides , it sorted it ! I think merlin are doing the base model quite cheap.

I use a fizik gobi and don't really get along with it. Its nice and wide/long with sufficient padding and flex (as well as expensive) its just a little ..... dead? Makes no sense, just my opinion of course
