Ok so got a new pike rc debonair in 150mm guise. While its ok and i must admit im not riding it hard in this weather it does feel a little harsh of the bottom. Ive tried 0 and 1 token and the psi seems high (about 100 ish for a 90kg kitted up) more than 1 and it doesnt seem to want to get all of the travel.

its good and supportive and midstoke is fine. just that first bit. My last fork was a rct3 thing which seemed much better but it was a 2016 fork.

now i also think (i dont know) that its sitting low in its travel when unloaded. if your off the bike its on the 10% sag mark which is making me feel something is up? you can get it to fully extend the last few mm but not under the bike weight. im running 20% sag. it doesnt make much diff at 30% sag either.

thoughts?

Just ridden straight out of the box or oils, grease, etc checked first? Given their history of forgetting to put fluids in, I'd be taking it apart for a look

Lower leg service straight away, I have had a new pair of Yaris and Lyriks in the past year, both had less than 5ml oil in total....ridiculous that they come like that

What travel sag meter are you looking at? Also I’d be taking about 20psi out

Never trust a new fork. As others have said, oil and grease before riding. Makes the world if difference. Also took the opportunity to drop a 2019 air spring into the wife's revelations.

That's pretty standard for the debonair forks. My 140 yari sits about 7mm into the travel under the bike's weight.

Not sure if it's much help, but mine is harsh too 🙂 It's been like this since I got it (new) in May. It feels great on larger hits but riding over chattery stuff it just feels like a rigid fork.

The other day I noticed that, if I stood on the bike in my normal position, it sat around 30% sag (as expected) but if I then slowly leant forwards I could basically put all my weight on the bars without it moving. If I "bounced" it would compress and I hit full travel on most rides, but it seems to be getting "stuck" around he sag point.

Is this stiction?

Have you got any low speed compression damping dialled in or full open?

Yep,

Mine are the same, 2019 140mm 29er pikes in rct3 guise. Dropped the lowers off them the other night and put back together with fresh oil and sram butter. They do feel better. But my 2016 pair which I sold felt better still!

New forks need about 10 hours of riding to start feeling properly supple in my experience.

As a 90kg rider myself, 100psi is bonkers. i run about 65psi and still don't quite bottom out!

yep me too 90ish kg and 65psi.
A few years old now but good if you do a lowers service every 3 months.

Just to add I’m on a 2017 Pike with a new debonair airshaft - the fork is 140mm travel 650b. I’m 80kgs ish, have 3 tokens in and 85psi at the moment. They feel really plush and I’m wondering if they’re a touch soft. Not running any compression damping on the dial (it’s an RC), not sure what my rebound settings are. They feel pretty great to me - my only comparison is with a similar age Lyrik rct3 with 170mm travel. The Lyriks are probably marginally plusher due to the extra travel they have to play with.

On the first run with my new Pikes I found them quite harsh and disappointing...... then I realised I hadn't understood the Open Firm Pedal setting positions. I thought it was Open when it was actually on Firm.... probably not the issue here though
