Im stumped .....just managed to scrap some money together for a new frame (bent mech hanger on my 456).

I can decide what to go for iv looked at a few but nothings quite right.

I really want to be able to use most of the old kit so pikes etc,

I want to build heavy but not to a dh spec.

I want to keep with steel or maybe ti hardtial or maybe or for a full sus.

my budget is around £500 would be looking at buying second hand on here

Any good ideas ,

Err, why not just get the mech hanger on the 456 straightened?

Does it have to be steel or Ti?

How about the Chumba HX1? works great with pikes too. I have a couple of frames on offer at the moment 🙂

How accurate really is a hanger once it's been bent back?

I've seen alu ones which don't even look bent, but are still out by just enough to cause misaligned gears.

That's why I think that even though it's steel and can be bent back, I'd still rather have a replaceable hangar on my frame.

I think a good bike shop should be able to align your steel hanger OK. The problem with alu frames and hangers is that they can't be bent back without weakening them. Steel is OK to bend.

Of course you might be wanting a new frame 😉
