[Closed] New Bottom Bracket, what do I need?

My BB has a fair bit of play in it and is on its way out (XT Chainset and BB, running the Shimano BB that came with the chainset, Hollowtech II). It still spins smoothly, just has play so I'd like to replace it.

I'm confused as to what I need to buy; I thought it would be as simple as buying an XT/XTR BB off RoseBikes as they seem to be cheapest, but now I see that they have XTR bottom bracket cups, rather than the whole BB. Does that have everything I need, will it include the bit between the cups as pictured? I see that some of them are just the middle bit without the cups it seems? Help 😯

You're looking at two completely different types/standards of BB there, the XTR is the type you'll need if you have HT11 cranks, the other shown is for an Octalink chainset, an interim standard that followed square taper.

Got it. So if I buy the XTR BB linked to above, that comes with the bit in the middle?

I've just had to replace the BB in the SLX chainset I bought in Novemeber. Done well over 4k of miles on it.

In the end I went for a Hope Ceramic which was on offer in the local Cycle Surgury store.

Picked it up for £70, reason I went for that as you have the choice to fit new bearings in the future and not a full replacement.

With the XTR BB there is no 'bit in the middle' just a plastic spacer. thats all you need.
