Just took a mate out for his first outing, he borrowed my 805 enjoyed it but wants his own bike.
I think he will be better off with a full sus.
Any suggestions for one, max price £1000 or slightly less. doesnt need anything fancy, just a good reliable bike that will work.
Pref if he could get 12 months interest free too.
Cheers
He wants to spend a grand on a bike after riding just once?
Second hand or get a hardtail. A £500 hardtail is perfectly good for a newb
Something like this - Boardman Team FS.
Not ridden one myself but they seem to achieve fairly decent reviews and you get a reasonable set up for your money.

its a minter
Hardtail is not really for him, he needs all the help he can get.
I dont really consider £1000 excesive for a decent bike, especially a full sus.
THanks for the boardman but dont think Halfords do 12 month 0%
Thanks TJ as usual you ignore everything that was said in the original post. 1 legged man in a bum kicking contest springs to mind.
Its not excessive for a decent bike, but its probably excessive for a noob who has only ridden once. But its his money I guess.
Like TJ said he would be better off buying second hand, then he won't lose any money if riding isn't for him.
Also he would be better off on a HT, a full sus won't do him any favours in the learning department. Plus he will get a much better HT for his money.
Lapierre X-Control 110 at Wheelbase who do 0% finance I think.

Thanks deluded, just looked at that.
He might be able to do the cycle to work and go for the Boardman, but he is keen to get one asap and after doing the bike to work myself im not sure its really worth getting involved.
The Boardman Team FS really looks like a great choice.
Just to clarify for the hard of understanding he is looking for FS and new.
