After many years in the retro wilderness I decided that it was about time to experiment with a few modern nicities 😳 😆
In steps, for me, the perfect frame......A 2010 Cotic Soul.
The idea was to build it with as much stuff as I could get that was either British or British designed. This is still a WIP but hopefully you can see my intent 🙂
First impressions are good. Lighter than I expected and very fast on any twisty stuff.
The build is more XC than a lot of the Souls I have seen but I guess that is more down to the terrain it will be used for.
Need a few more bits but I will let the pics do the talking 🙂
What do you think?
Edit - Now has Intense System 2 tyres (2.0) saving about 700g on the pics above 🙂
Interesting build with the 1x9. What fork is that? Looks very nice.

Its a RS Reba SL. I used Peterpoddy's guide to up the travel to circa 115mm. I love the fork - best I have ridden.
1x9 works great but the MRP was a b*tch to fit with the cranks & BB
Looks lush fella. Nice one!
very nice. Welcome to the Cotic club
that is lovely
Very nice Mark. Where are the Pace forks, Hope stem etc?
PS did you get my text with the price of the board change?

Pace forks are on a long wishlist stem will be purchased when I confirm 100mm is the correct length.
Yes got your text - will discuss with Mrs LMTTM and get back to you - Thank you though 🙂
Very nice! they build up nice for Xc dont they, mines 25lb, but feels and rides So much better!
Was so nice to be out this morning on Hard trails rather than soft sloppy ones, Bike was Loving it!
That looks great, love the colour 🙂

I haven't weighed mine but would like to think it was around the 25lb mark.
Does ride very similar to a lighter Ti bike I used to own but I guess that is more a material thing.....
Colour looks lovely in that pic
Colour looks gorgeous.
And spot on for going 1x9 also.
100mm was a bit twitchy when I tried an older Soul last year, 120mm was perfect.
Very nice, but if you're trying to get as much British kit on there as possible, you need a nice Brooks B17 😛
Andy
Good work sir. And the One True Colour as well. Nice 😉
Nice! Liking the 1x9 thing. And the ORANGE. (if it's the same paint as my Bfe it's REALLY F.... ORANGE)
Pace forks are on a long wishlist
Been there, done that (on my Soda). Trust me here - either stick with the existing Rebas or get some newer Reba Teams with a maxle lite. The Pace really ain't all that (I had some RC41 XCAMs) - far too linear and pretty rudimentary damping; plus the support/service from Pace was shocking.
Now got the Reba Teams and they're a whole heap better. The bolt through version is worth having for the extra steering precision, and your front wheel is convertible, so an easy change. Not UK made/designed though.
Lovely bike. Enjoy!
Thank you again for the comments.
The bike is VERY orange - but I loves it 🙂
1x9 was a bit of a no brainer for where I live (Suffolk). No hills big enough to require a granny cog & I have never really used my outer when running 2x9 😕
Brooks saddle is being contemplated - budget and bum allowing
Rebas will be staying too - maybe try a USE SUB......
Looks a nice balanced build, no stoopid long forks on there! Personally I wouldn't use High-Rollers on an XC build, but then it's probably none of my business.
EDIT: Just read that you've changed the tyres already! Nice, Renthal chainring too.

That HR ST 2.5 nearly killed me a few time when trying to ride up hill on the road!
Never again 😳
