Thinking of buying a new bike, a hardtail as it's more practical, capable of riding trail centres, natural stuff etc, not a big jumper but I do drop offs on the black routes etc.
Must be a good climber as well as a hoot down!
So I've narrowed it down to 3 bikes
-Santa Cruz highball(my favourite)
29er alu 120mm fork

Orange crush
27.5 alu 140mm

Nukeproof scout
27.5 140mm I think

The orange is the cheapest at £1300, nukeproof is £1500 I think and the highball is £1649.

Anybody own one of these above?
Any recommendations?
Any advice welcome as I'm stuck

I'm in the same situation, pretty much. Leaning toward the crush myself.

That SC looks great but not enough travel for my liking.

Stanton Switchback?

Or does it have to be aluminium?

I was also looking at the SC and the orange but in the end I went for a Bird Zero 1. Took it to hamsterley on the black and red on Sunday and handled everything just as well as my SC Bronson (all be it a bit harsher on the rock gardens). Full XT spec / shimano Zee, race face finishing kit stealth dropper and RS revelation fork for £1500. Looks awesome too. Worth a look...

So I've narrowed it down to 3 bikes

Test ride them, then decide.

Shadowfax;
I was looking at travel to but I'm told a 29er wheel is like 20mm of travel so plus a 120mm
Fork, it should be fine, but I know where your coming from.

Gordy;
Yeah alu only, I've had steel on my last ht so want a change.

Grobin;
Hamsters is my local stomping ground so That's good that the bird handles the black and red with no issues, I'll add that to the mix.
