Still not managed to ride my new bike for one reason or another.
But since I've had it I've tried to change the casette and broke my chainwhip and it still didn't come off.
Now I'm trying change the pedals over for flats and I cannot get either of them to shift.
Never had this problem with any other bike but this one seems to have been put together by a gorilla with a 6ft wrench.
Any tips on removing pedals that won't budge. Preferable quickly otherwise it'll have to wait till sunday and the LBS and I'll ride the other bike tomorrow.
pour a kettle of boiling water over the crank
then quickly
big bar on the spanner and stand on it.
Try taking your seat off and stick your allen key in the seat post for some extra leverage. Or if you've got any longer pipes around use them for even more leverage. Careful you don't snap or bend anything with all that extra power though.
Bent my Cr-V 6mm allen key using an old downhill bar.
I even went as far as taking the pedals off another bike incase I'd been turning them the wrong way! Cromoly body, aluminium crank, normally I'd expect to see an excess of grease on the back of the crank, can't see anything on these, looks dry ๐
Plus gas if you have that!
boiling water on the crank. frozen peas/ice etc on the pedal.
try giving the allen key a sharp blow with a hammer, often works better than just trying more and more force using longer and longer pipes.
