After several months of scrimping and saving a few questions on here and actually going N-2 to fund this build i have finally finished my new road bike.

It replaces my 12 year old Planet X SL Pro Carbon which served me well but was starting to look a little dated, and to be fair after 12 years i think i'd had my moneys worth!

In the current climate there were many times i didn't think i'd get this finished due to the lack of availability of Shimano items.Budget for this build was £2500 max and thankfully it came in a couple of hundred under that, and the final weight without pedals is 7.6kg.

Anyway, first ride today, 50km shakedown and first impressions are that i absolutely love it, it feels very fast and responsive and accelerates up hills like no bike i've ridden before. It's stiffer than i thought it would be but not uncomfortably so, 52/36 up front with a 11-28 cassette suits me perfectly, and with a medium cage rear mech gives me scope to fit a wider range cassette should i need one. Disc brakes for the road are amazing, i'm a total convert, ditto tubeless tyres. looking forward to a long summer of long rides.

Sums it up perfectly.

Even the garage doors look acceptable. 😉

I like that a lot, they are great value for money too.

How is the tyre clearance and what size max do you think could be fitted?

Have been hovering over the buy now button for one of these for ages (or Ribble Endurance).

Looks ace. What size is it/are you OP? I've just on the cusp between L/XL.

Bar tape is actually light grey, may help a little, i do intend to invest is some better tape at some point, this Deda one was awful, the saddle was on my previous bike and is resisting staining well.

I've got 25mm in there and there is loads of space, easily the 30mm stated by Planet X

That's a large, i'm 6 foot/180cm exactly with "normal" proportions and it is a great fit for me with a 100mm stem.

Thanks for all the positive comments.

Looks really good.

For balance - I had white bar tape on my old winter bike, and it was totally fine. Would do so again.
