Hi Guys

Need some advice. Looking at a new bike for myself.

Looking at longer bike Dare i say Enduro style.

Been looking at the:

Spec Enduro
Trek Slash
Trek Remedy
Giant Reign
Orbea Rallon

Been round the shops and got some good service in some and better service in others.

When i Was in DC cycles. (nice guys in there) We were looking at the Orbea they showed me the Empire MX6 Evo. I like the look of the bike but some may not like its box tubing.

Just what some advice to see cut this list down to two or three bikes. What do guys have / ridden. Or what advice do you have.

Cheers

Depends on your budget really and what model in the ranges you are looking at.

Enduro expert is a cracker as has the s works carbon, pikes, decent roval wheels.

But if it was aluminum I'd be looking at the new giant reign, better value IMO.

Don't know much about the orbea...

Nice decision to have.

Just go on a Demo day and ride as many as you can.

There's many others if you can't get to that one.

The Enduro, Slash and Reign all look like great choices. The Slash in particular looks like exactly the geometry I'll be looking for if I ever get around to a new bike. Shame it's not a horst link as that's why I tend to prefer.

Some people have been critical of the current Enduro, but I'd like to ride one as I've never ridden a bad one across all of the previous versions.

If it helps, here's a review I put together on the Enduro Elite in 650b format.

Scott Genius 650b?

Mine took a beating last year and I was very happy.

My advice would be to ask in the Bike Forum. LMMTFY.

Love how that Liteville looks like a hardtail, very clean.

...the riginal post made me Google Empire bikes, their AP1 downhill machine look very interesting, never heard of them before, wish the mags would spend more time shining the spotlight on smaller manufacturers like that instead of shoving endless reviews of Specs, Trek and Giant down our throats.

How does the Liteville ride?
Looking at that photo it looks like it pivots at the bottom bracket (like the old G spot).
I tested at G Spot around Coed y Brenin and it was bloody awful going uphill.
Hopefully the Liteville is better. It does look good though.

The Liteville is an FSR style linkage so pedals quite well.

Doesn't really fit 650b wheels in & BB is a bit up in the clouds, TT isn't overly long. Probably due an update.

That said I rode one for a while & it felt like a nice, neutral bike to ride. Would I buy one though? Doubt it.

Did you see my review on the Rallon? I've since been getting support from Orbea but wrote the review before and it's as honest as can be. It's a fantastic bike, so fast and fun going down and I think it climbs great as well. I broke the climb lever off the BOS shock and have been running it like that all year without problems. I've not ridden any of those others, had a quick round the car park on a Slash but that was it. Orbea has lifetime warranty which sets it apart and mine has lasted the year without breaking sweat.

BB isn't high when riding. I can't put a value on that, i just get a lot more pedal strikes than i did with my other bikes.

The XL is 650b compatible, although i reckon it'll struggle with large volume tyres. Tbh, i'm happy enough with 26''. I do reckon the next version(s) will be 650b specific.
