Just picked up a new 5010 frame this week, waiting for a few more bits then should be good to build. Tried to resist buying the new frame as my other 5010 only year old , but that didn't happen !😁 any one else got one built and played on yet ?

I like that the 5010 is billed as their 'cross country' machine (Stif had one on display during the XC nationals last year) but looks meaner and probably more capable than most Enduro / DH rigs, let us know how you get on!

Don’t think it ever has been? Not when compared to the Blur and Tallboy. That and having 27.5” wheels...

Do SantaCruz bill the 5010 as XC? I've noticed they've moved it about a bit in recent years in how they define it. I have a 5010 V2 and I like XC bikes, but mine is definitely not an XC bike, I think of it more as a short travel park bike, a precise hooligan that likes to get lairy. Wouldn't enter an XC race on one. Downcountry is where it's at anyhoo apparently, its a small wheeled Downcountry do anything bike at the tougher end of that spectrum (with something like the Epic Evo at the other end)...or am I doing it wrong?

Yes I have one. Moved from a V3 that is up for sale. Built last week with 150mm forks up front.

I have had V2, V3 and V4 5010s none have been XC bikes. They are all a do it all trail bike.

Endover, that made my brain itch so think you’re on the money.

@unsponsored ... I'd be interested in hearing how different each version was for you, especially uphill. Any thoughts to share?

The blur is definately the xc bike alongside the hardtail Highball, both 29er.
Singletrack tested one with a fox34 which would add a bit more capability to the descents
Even the latest tallboy has been upped on the travel from 120 front and 110mm rear to 130 and 120 and marketed as the downhillers xc bike.

I’d agree entirely with endoverend, it’s a bike that likes to be ridden hard, but I have done a few xc events (v2 CC) and without the chunky tyres, it’s performed well, so much quicker uphill than my old lefty f29 hardtail except on flat tarmac, only let down by the fitness ;0(

Iv used my old 5010 for everything, 20k pub rides to 100k events loved it. Really has done everything, little bit unsure of this one as a few reviewers say its lost its playfully nature. We shall see. Going with pike ultimate, xx1, reserves and few berg bits to finish. Just waiting on mr postman now ....
