Is the gondola likely to be open to the public on the Monday after the WC next May? Wind permitting

Usually is. The dh sometimes doesn't open first thing as they're still clearing tape and suchlike but it's usually open by about lunchtime and top chief's usually open as usual. And hopefully the new blue will be by then too (though, I'd not be too shocked if it's open but not really finished, or if it only goes to teh puggy line or something- they did that with the red)
It's pretty cool riding down into the finish area with the grandstands up etc, you really get that "riding in the tyreprints of giants" feeling, and the track's generally in as good condition as it gets- though obviously can take a wee bit of a beating in race week if the weather's bad.

@Northwind it's mapped out on the nevis site, and indeed looks like it only goes as far as the puggy line.
