Wanting to put a new expander on the bike, but it's a bit tight with 40t on, and I picked up a cheap 42t from here. The cassette won't take a new chain unfortuntaly, just skips under load, but wondering if I can just stick a couple of links from a 10sp chain on there without mucking it up too much?
I'm sure I removed some links when I went 1x10 but can't find them for the lift of me!!
So you are putting a NEW expander on with an old cassette and chain? Or is it used?
If my cassette and chain were that bad I would just change them instead of wearing new stuff
Nah it's a used expander, not 'that' used but enough that it isn't skipping. It's an XTR cassette that shifts beautifully stlil so I'm really trying to squeeze the most life out of it I can.
