If i was commuting I'd be thinking more of a bar sticking 2 and a half feet out from my bike, maybe with a big rubber spikey ball or something on the end

Can't see that working for me. The other day I got tooted at (followed by single digit exchanges). My crime was to indicate and turn right on a suburban side street.
I thought of having someting similar made, after a few scary moments on the road. I'm not sure that the idiots hooning past you that close would even bother to read it? I hope that it may make at least some people think thou!
