First ride of my new Slash+ 9.9 today and absolutely loved it. Knew I would enjoy it after demoing a 9.7 last year which despite unfamiliar trails and the horrible Bontrager tyres I quite enjoyed.

The 9.9 is heaps better, set the fork and shock to recommend defaults and was instantly comfortable on it. The Vivid shock is great, almost feels like my coil Aeris 9 in big hits but lots of support at the same time.

Covered 30km and 1500m of climbing, mostly in detuned eco mode but I did resort to middle and boost on the last 2 climbs. Approx 30% battery left. Reckon I could eke 2000m out with less frenetic pacing. I was pretty broken after 2.5 hours, spent >50% in zones 4 & 5 so definitely got a workout!

Only things I didn’t like - 170mm dropper - definitely getting a 240mm one to replace the AXS & the shop fitted gravity Mary/Albert combo. Partly my fault for not asking for the correct versions!

Apologies for lack of photos, weather was pretty minging!

Tye new slash does look a wicked package, I'm looking to replace my whyte this year hopefully and have read about the Trek, along with the Commencal and Atherton offerings coming out this year.

Where was it's first ride?

I hadn’t seen the commencal offering?? Had I known about the Atherton I possibly would’ve waited for that.

If I’m being totally honest the new Fuel Exe would suit 90% of my riding better with the ability to switch the travel to long mode but it was too expensive for the carbon with a half decent spec.
