I was on the bike for 7 hours yesterday- fuelled almost entirely by bilberries.
What other free natural nommage do people have?

that is a giant bilberry bush! Ours on the hills are 10cm off the ground max!

Apart from (involuntarily) dining on my own snot by the time I get to Dunkery or whatever high place:

Nuts (chestnut, cob)
Fruit (bilberries, apples, cherry apples, cherries, damsons, plums, raspberries, wild strawbs, elderberries, mulberries etc)

Also partial to:

Current favourite trail refreshers are the delicious crisp, succulent leaves of navelwort. Try it if you haven't already*, you'll wonder why you ever buy those boring flat leaves from supermarkets. Mix with a few young dandelion leaves and some gorse petals and you have a very nice leaf salad.

*Have to be careful not to pull the whole plant out as they are typically shallowly rooted in loose, shallow soil.

I found a solitary wild strawberry at the bottom of the climb at Afan a few weeks ago.

No berries round my way yet, but Nature's bounty still provides...

Mostly insects that fly into my mouth.
I've had wild strawberries at Afan too. Best I've ever tasted.
