Just taken delivery of my new Cotic Soul, but my XT hubbed rear wheel doesn't fit into the drop-outs! Not width wise, I mean the actual axle bit.

My old LX hub fits, which is threaded.

Am I going to have to file some of the obviously excess paint away?

Call Cotic first, they might send you a replacement or fix it for you (thus keeping your warranty in tact).

Seem to remember my hope pro II required some persuasion to fit the dropouts on my BFe. As you say excess paint was the problem.

guitar hero - solved with a file?

Seems a bit odd - they go to all this trouble to have custom made dropouts - thought they'd allow for paint in the tolerances!

Emails sent to Cy - shall see what is recommended. Not too impressed with the thought of having to take a file to a £470 frame. The wheel fitted the 456 fine!

So, 456 a better made frame then?

Yes, it is (or was it just much cheaper?).

VFM?

Warning, "I love my new 456" content.

And it climbs like a goat.

I'd rather the metal was a snug fir and a bit of paint might need removing than the dropouts are too loose

Amazing - you mention an on-one and loads of people turn up to pass comment...

Anyway, I prefer the ride of the Soul (when they have 2 wheels on!) and its finished way better than my 456. The paint on the 456 would drop off if I looked at it too long!

Just give it a wallop: the paint in the dropouts (making a tight fit) will get scratched away anyway, so it doesn't matter...

my Bontrager needed a little filing to the drop-out when it was new and the paint will come off anyway.

We had a few from one batch that had a bit too much powdercoat build up in the dropout. I've emailed you too, but as I said there, I'm 99.9% sure it'll be the frame finish so you just need a couple of sweeps of a file to sort.
