I'd speak to Jungle.

Depends if it's a fault or if the rocks did the actual damage.

Maybe have to go down the crash replacement route.

Some sort of crash replacement will be your, sorry, your friend's only recourse here. If, that is, Jungle/SC offer one. Otherwise, I'm afraid you've just broken a bike. Sorry, your friend has just broken a bike.

Which is a bummer.

Carbon can be repaired though. Any pics of the extent of the damage?

We cracked, if cracked is the word, two S Works in two crashes two days apart in the Alps. My Enduro and Kevins Stumpjumper. Looked into getting them repaired but in the end opted for Specialized crash replacements. Not cheap by any means but the best way to go for us. Specialized UK were first class with the help from start to finish including my call from the Alps to see if I could carry on riding mine. Duct tape was my friend for a few days.

I know exactly how he feels, it took me a while to get over it

I tend to agree

Depends of where the crack is - but almost 100% definitely repairable! I have repaired various carbon frames which the owners had written off (one was almost in 2 pieces) - so I would tell him to get in contact with a carbon repair specialist for a quote (Google it - there are lots out there)

or....

If he fancies giving it a go himself - have a look on youtube/instructables - plenty of tutorials and guides on the internet!

If he want's a second opinion, tell him to send me some pics and I'll let him know how I'd tackle it!

Insurance? Some policies have accidental damage clauses. I got a new frame after stacking in the alps. It was M&S.
