Down the park with the kids, it is a nice day so why not. They've all got their bikes with them and riding around happily. Lots of other kids doing the same. I noticed 2 kids had their forks on backwards. I waited til they go back to their parents (didn't want to seem like a pervert lol) and went over to let the parents know.

Both bikes bought and built by halfords. Offered to sort it out for them. Luckily I carry basic tools in my ruck sack with me just in case I need to sort something with the kids bikes. Turned the forks round on both bikes and sorted out the brakes so they work now too. They were very appreciative I not only let them know but sorted them out too.

Well played!

It really is shocking that Halfords can't manage to get this right! Training for mechanics must be non-existent.

You sure they weren't Manitou forks? 😉

Ooooh, I didn't think of that. And they've left now too.

If it's any consolation, I can't recall ever seeing a kids bike in Halfords with Manitou forks.. Or adult for that matter... You're probably OK!

I would have trouble doing that... As after doing the forks I'd inevitabley check the poor brake set up.... Play in headset.... The parents would tell me to sod off on the end.lol

They were a bit like that. Both bikes I also sorted the brakes so they worked, hand tightened the headset collar on one of them and at that point I left it before I found even more to do on them. If I'd have had more tools with me I'd hate to think how much I'd have done lol. Like you said, it's never ending.
