Got a late afternoon/evening to kill in the Edinburgh area & would like to have a 3 hour ride, done Peebles a few times so fancy a 'natural' ride. Had a quick look at the map & the Pentland or Moorfoot Hills look promising , are there any must do ride suggestions please?

I have never beenable to find much in the Moorfoots although I am sure there must be some
Pentlands really needs someone who knows the trails or a marked map - there is stuff not on the maps and so on. No one particular must do ride i would say - depends on what you like and the conditions. Decent riding but nothing stupendous

Rode one route in the Moorfoots from the top of the Granites to Gladhouse reservoir, not a bad decent, but met the landowner out shooting and he wasn't too pleased. He convinced me that the path I was on didn't go anywhere (i.e. his house), so sent me across a boggy moor.
Also cycled from Gladhouse to Glentress via the windfarm, ended up totally lost, and got back to Glentress in the pitch black, the wife was a nit worried.
