[Closed] MTB Instructor Course - Any ideas?

Appreciate that this is not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm considering doing a MTB instructor course and wondered if anyone has done or heard of one that was good?

I would ideally like to be able to take adults and kids over any type of terrain at any height in the UK and maybe Europe.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers, Chris

Do your Trail Cycle Leader followed by Mountainbike Leader awards. Google them for more details

I did MIAS level 2 with Ray Mazey in Bolton (he's on here I think). You'll struggle to get one that will qualify you for any height though, level 2 goes up to 600m and level 3 is more or less a mountain leaders course which is a whole different ballgame.

I'm not sure but 600m gives plenty of scope for MTB instruction.

I believe TCL + MBL is the only stand-alone MTB qualification which will allow you to lead children at over 600m. The others all require you to have a Mountain Leader qualification as well.

See www.scottishcycling.com

(disclaimer - the above advice is from an AALA document I have which is now about 4 or 5 years old, situation may have changed in that time).

For Europe, really it's a whole other ball-game. You need to check with the relevant authorities in the country in which you wish to work. UK-based qualis may state that they're valid in Europe or Worldwide but it's meaningless if the "host" nation won't recognise it.
