Going to Jordan for a few months for work... taking an mtb with me.

Any advice? Anyone been cycling in Jordan? any amazing trails you want to share?

I'm already in contact with a couple of bike groups out there who do rides so looking forward to those especially the early morning (while its still cool enough to breath) rides around the hills above the dead sea followed by breakfast.

Also whilst I'd never normally dream of posting a "What tyres for..." thread, I am a bit lost. I've googled the hell out of it and there just isn't much info as mtb is still fairly new in Jordan.

Additionally I ride in Yorkshire, I have a shed full of big mud tyres, wet condition tyres and even a set of ice stud tyres... none of which I suspect are going to be much use with dry sandy gritty trails. So please don't flame me for asking about rubber hoops but any suggestions?

Thanks

Yeah, it was supposed to be in January but got delayed 'til now. ๐Ÿ™

January I might of needed those winter spike tyres with the snow they get in Amman.

Camelbak's "hydrate or die" strapline has never seemed more appropriate.

Northern Jordan has forest etc. to ride so planning on going up there.

don't oil the chain! in fact, get a new chainset before you go and leave it dry!

Last time I was in Dubai (in October) I went for a ride in Oman (Hatta) early one morning on a rental Stumpjumper - good god it was hard work in the heat! The terrain was what I imagine Mars to be look. Loose, black, shingle and very hard to ride with any commitment. I linked up with a couple of expats via FB who were involved in trail building out there.

We started riding at 730am (22 degrees) and by 10am it was 37 degrees and massively hard work. Glad I have done for the experience but little desire to do it again!

Here's a photo at the top of the climb of the guys I rode with.
