If you were doing a 6/12/24 hr event would you prefer the timing to stop at exactly the finish time ie; the event is advertised as 12am til 12pm should the timing not count anyone crossing the line after 12pm or should the timing count a lap as long as it was started before 12pm?

Opinions please, thanks

count a lap as long as it was started before 12pm

For me anyway (with a time limit for last lap a la No Fuss)

yep, laps count so long as you cross the line before the cutoff.

you get a lot of drama with guys killing themselves to make it over the line, then a rush of all those making damn sure they *didn't* cross the line too soon!

a time limit for that final lap may or may not be needed - depends on the length of the event i guess

Yup me too, laps started before the time count. Otherwise those in the lead could end up waiting for the whistle, be caught and lose.
