Just moved into the area and would benefit from someone to show me local trails, anyone out there?
Not in Cowbridge, but just down the road in Pontyclun. Plenty of trails around. There's a nice ride from here over to Glyncorrwg via Llantrisant Forest, Ogmore Forest & The Bwlch. The trails around Castell Coch are also easy enough to reach without too much tarmac.
The Vale is full of forestry tracks - Hensol is flat but better than nothing - I run there with the dog and there's a waymarked route for bikes but not sure how challenging it would be - I guess short and flat?
mtb-wales.com has a few weekly get togethers at various places.
I'm not really any help but would just like to say that as a monthly visitor with work over the last 5 years I think you've moved to a very nice place.
I stay at the Bear. Restaurants and pubs are all excellent. The bike shop in the village is a mess but run by a nice bloke. A nice bunch down there.

have a look at the forums above there are a number of regular rides that you could join up on.
The blackwood rides are always a good laugh with a mixed bunch of talent
