Whilst riding a single speed mtb at a relatively slow pace uphill, stood up on DMR v12's, the left pedal snapped and the axle jammed into my calf with much force, puncturing a deep hole sideways then upwards in my calf muscle/s...
It hurt like holy hell and bled like a motherf??ยค?r.
Anyone suffered any similar experiences/ could give any words of encouragement for a positive (if not speedy) recovery?

I have potmarked calves from being neatly apple cored by DMR Terror Pins (and matching chunks of my shins missing including a few chips of bone) over the years.
Best course of action...loud swearing and a healthy dose of HTFU.

Yep that'll smart but I bet a food rinse out, some stitches and antibiotics will have you pedalling again within a week.......if you MTFU ๐Ÿ˜†

No, but good luck ! I have had numerous calf muscle tears / strains over the years (AstroTurf injuries) but none have impacted the biking that much

Had a chain snaps on a steep climb which resulted in my entire body weight driving the back of my calf onto the chainring. Needed to different types on antibiotic to clear that one up.

Also snapped an xt square taper bottom bracket that then sliced it's way up the inside of my left calf as I fought to regain my balance.
