has anyone got away with mtb cable disc callipers and road levers?
want to try my road rat with drops on but don't want to have to buy another set of callipers unless have to

IIRC - it's possible but the pads will have to be set really, really close to the rotor (so you'll likely get a bit of rub) and you'll pulling all the way back to the bar to get enough power.

It will be ok to try - you will have the wrong pull ratio - if I have it the right way round you will get a very short pull on the lever with a huge amount of force needed to get decent braking

Edit - one of us has this the wrong way round - probably me

I've just done my roadrat up with drops & BB7s - got a set of Cane Creek V drop levers for less tan £20 on EBay.

Druidh is correct- they will be soft and squishy, simply because road levers don't pull as much cable as mtb v-brake levers. The road lever will have more mechanical advantage relative to the leverage its pulling (yeh brake caliper) so will travel further to get the equivalent cable pull. Hence... Loads of power, but very dquidgy. Will be fine for trying, but annoying and potentially dodgy long term.
