Is it right that if you have over £100k to stick in the bank in Aus you get citizenship quicker or easier?

Cheers

nope, myth. For some state sponsorships you need x amount in the bank, though more like £30k in my experience.

edit - do you really mean "citizenship" or do you mean "permanent residency visa"?

yes... it's not a myth, it's your bond. In effect - you sponsor yourself, and is a guarantee against state welfare payouts should you become a workshy scav.

something like this.... Residency is when you get "leave" to reside in country without a Visa. You need to reside for a certain period and prove your worth before you can apply for Citizenship. Citizenship is getting your passport and full rights as if you were born there.

The "donation" to the Australian Government can clear a lot of red tape, and is your personal collateral/assurance that you're not just an economic refugee intent on claiming benefit as soon as you are granted residency. Which happens a lot, funnily enough.

The size of the donation as suggested above is more like £30k, but even getting this together is no easy feat, considering your expenses once you actually get there. The more you can afford, the less red tape - but you still have to qualify.

Ahh I understand now. Imagine that, people go to a country to claim of their benefits system without contributing, thats pretty low.

Thanks for all the info
