Does anyone else find that their Camelbak podium nozzles go black and mouldy after a while? I find that I need to dismantle them regularly which I do not think you are supposed to, in order to clean the insides particularly the wee blue rubber disc valve.

Is it just me?

Not a problem I've ever had. What do you put in them?

I sucked a spider into the nozzle last week,it must have crawled into the bladder whilst it was drying in the shed, textbook mistake not to check it I suppose,I can't for the life of me get it out so getting a new nozzle, you can get a cotton bud in there to clean it.

Yes, mine do this too. I just let it build up and then take them apart them every couple of months to clean. Doesn't seem to have done too much harm so far. I guess you could soak them in sterilising solution, might get rid of the mould without requiring the fiddly dismantling process.

I sterilise mine every couple of weeks and I have seen that problem too! You're not alone.

I just rinse with the hottest water i can get out of the tap, then blast it through the nozzle. Loosens everything up enough that a normal hand wash (with the silicon bit removed) gets rid of all the clag.

Mine gets stored in the freezer. Problem solved.

I had never thought of the freezer.

Great to hear that it is not just me. I only ever put water in mine and still they end up manky even with the new ones. Clearly more cleaning required!

There are 2 separate things here. Podium bottles and bladders

I have 7 podiums I think, and a bladder. I do see the problem with podiums, but not very much. The newer ones are much better and the mouthpiece comes off for cleaning. Otherwise the back of a teaspoon works pretty well for cleaning
