is the blackbox noticeably better in real life??

yes, absolutely.

much better and composed in the faster rougher stuff.

I have, and if you can stretch to black box it's worth it in my opinion. They're excellent - so good you just forget all about them.

Yes I've had both and agree with the others above, well worth the extra IMO.

Recently got new Revs and went for the black box ones based on advice from STW. They feel amazingly good. Really good over fast rooty stuff too. 150 quid better, can't say as I've not tried both, but I'm not disappointed.

Is it possible to retrofit blackbox to mission control forks?

yes, not the cheapest upgrade though, about £70 for the damper & seals last time I asked Loco

Oh and yes I looked at upgrading some old fork (and may yet do it - not in a rush) as I like the BB/dual flow rebound performance.
