[Closed] Most comfortable SPD boots for walking in?

Appreciate I should be cycling before you say anything...

I have a slightly complex commute in that I have to push my son to nursery in his pram whilst pushing my bike with the other hand for around 20 mins. It's uphill and quite a workout but made a lot more unpleasant by doing it in my Sidi MTB shoes.

And as winter is coming (and I've always fancied a more rugged pair of boots) I thought I'd get a new pair of boots.

Any suggestions?

cargo bike is the real answer you need

but failing that, why not just put your spuds under the pram whilst your pushing it (in normal shoes) and swap it for normal shoes when you get to the nursery? Much better than a naff compromise between the two

if you can find a pair of NOS MT91s they are very comfortable to walk in once broken in .

Could you not get a trailer for the bike?

Shimano XM9's (update of old MT91's) are fine for walking in all day and short to medium lengths rides.

I like these Mavic XA Elites:

https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/mavic-xa-elite/136613355/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=5799869&country=uk&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzvLslIaQ3gIVhud3Ch0AEQeDEAQYASABEgKNPPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

About as walkable as you’ll get. All spd shoes will sound like sparking clogs on hard surfaces. Reasonably priced too.

I've recently bought the Mavic XM Pro (I think they were called) at a scary £120-175 depending on where you buy them but have been amazed at how waterproof, comfortable and easy to get along with they have been.

Worth a look if you budget goes there but do try them on as sizing is interesting so always worth checking sizing.

The Mavic shoes will deteriorate very quickly around the cleat & toe area ..mine lasted less than a year ..

The Shimano XM 9's are the comfiest mtb shoes I have worn ..ever .

Thanks for the tips guys. How do you find sizing on Shimano? I am usually a 43 and bought a secondhand pair (from here) in a 44 and they were too small. The main problem with trying on these kind of shoes is so few shops have a decent stock!

I can only feedback on what I’ve had and my North Wave boots are very comfortable to walk and ride in. They have a good level of waterproofing but their thermal quality is not great for keeping toes warm.

Xm9s replaced my Mt91s. Great boots, very durable, comfy, good for hike a bike and have ankle protection. Grip well in rocks and tough for really harsh terrain in Lakes Scotland and Wales.

Size wise, I would go up at least 1 euro size. But everyone's feet are different.
