Just decided to put my summer tyres on.
When I first went tubeless it was new maxxis ignitors on new arch rims. They were a bloody tight fit and I could pull the bead into the rim with a click. Pumped up straight away.
Removing tyres I was surprised that I didn't need levers, I guessed they have stretched.
Putting on my used Crossmarks on they were pretty loose. I could pull the bead into the rim but it wouldn't stay. I'm guessing the old sealant was acting as a lubricant and making it slide off.
So what's the best thing to wash old sealant off with? Has this been an issue with anyone else? It's Stans by the way.
Sealant won't do that.
I had my first attempt last night.
Newish High Roller on Flow rim with yellow rim tape. Went on well.
Tonight, same set up but half worn High Roller, fail!

try using a tube to seat the tyre then remove tube and try again this worked for me with some old tyres

Have you tried leaving the tube in for a few hours/overnight?
Helps give the tyre some "memory" of shape so that it naturally pushes out onto the shoulders, giving a better chance of sealing with the first few strokes of the track-pump.
Will do that tonight, then give it a good thrashing.

Had to do this last week with a brand new set of tubeless ready Schwalbes. I also needed to remove the valve cores before maniacally inflating with a track pump.
Are you storing the tyres turned inside-out? It seems to work for me, for the time being at least.

A car tyre is much easier to use than messing about with pop bottles.
Does steel or Kevlar bead make any difference ?
