After getting some good advice on here last week I have fitted up my old hardtail as a singlespeeder.
Only problem I am having is stopping the chain jumping off, the chain does still seem a bit saggy but,I have removed links but I cant take any more out. I have a superstar chain tensioner - is it best to run the chain over or under the jockey wheel. Also what kind of angle should the leg of the tensioner be at?

shorten the chain to as tight as possible (without being stupidly tight) without the tensioner in place. then fit the tensioner. is it the one with the preloaded spring?
Chain should not be saggy with a tensioner fitted, the clue is in the name!
I'm not familiar with the Superstar one but they usually can only tension one way unless you can swap the direction of the spring around or they don't have a spring at all!
Sounds like you have too much chain still and if you can't take any more links out without making it too short then you will have to try different combinations of ratio to find the nearest one that will allow the tensioner to work.
It is also better, if possible, to run the tensioner so that it pushes the chain up thus wrapping it around the sprocket more but that has less room for adjustment as it may push the chain under the chainstay if it is too long.
Hope that makes sense but it really is a case of trying different things to find the right combo.
I converted mine this week. Fafftastic.
If it's slipping then it's too loose. If it's dropping I would also look carefully at the chainline too. I measured mine very carefully and added BB and hub spacers so it's bang on.
If it's this one, then it's got no spring, you just pull it by hand and tighten. You could go up or down I'm guessing that up is better if there's room

One thought, it doesn't look like you can shuffle the pulley left or right on that one to adjust with the chainline, so I guess your rings are all going toward the locknut end of the freehub body. So have you put the chainring on the outside of the crank spiders to get it aligned?
Re: tensioning: I just got amazingly lucky and found that 32/18 gave just the right chain tension. You could try going up a rear cog with one more link or down a rear cog with one less.
