A lot of you enjoyed seeing my boy on his new trike (Best bike I've ever bought) so here's some more action...this time off-road. I hope you enjoy it even a smidge as much as I enjoyed making it with my boys 😀

Brilliant... he looks like he has enough power for a higher gear, but then you might not be able to catch him!!

32 seconds - nice save! there's some Trail Centre blues out there which would be a right laugh on that.

Brilliant video.

Anyone who doesn't have a smile at this isn't human. We all remember the fun of riding off road as a child 🙂

It's really touching to read these responses. James doesn't have an easy cruise through life but his little brother is a great mate to him and there's no shortage of laughs and smiles. I knew it was infectious and your lovely comments are testament to that. Thanks you lot.

He's more rad than I'll ever be. I can't remember being that happy on a bike! The first thing I've shown my wife on STW in a long time that she's not said "you geek" in response to.

Please make this a regular update, why is it not in midweek movies?

Flipping awesome.

Cracking job dad (good save too). Looks like a world of fun being had. Good skills by brother too.

James may not have had the easiest cruise through life, but he's putting some of the rest of us to shame with what he's putting in, and getting out of it! (With significant help from parents and brother, by the look of it!).

Brilliant to see - best two threads I've seen in a while. 🙂

"Right, I'm going to stick the camera down here. I want you to pedal as fast as you can down this massive hill and i'll catch it all on video. Don't worry, nothing can go wrong"

"oh sheeeeeeeee........phew" 🙂

that would have taken a bit of explaining to mum!

You have me captivated, the look of pure joy on your lads face has me blubbing like the soft idiot I am.

Just showed it to my mother who is here on holiday with us and she just gave her nearly 50 year old son a hug and said "thanks for being there for me"

I must explain she has is in remission from breast cancer but things like this reinforce the basic caring nature in us all.

Take a bow stilltortoise you are a top bloke

Great video, smiles say it all

Can I ask a question about the trike, my 6 year old daughter has special needs and we are struggling to find a trike for her, this one looks like it could be suitable. My email is in my profile if you want to post me direct.

Thanks

only echo what others have said, what a totally 'kin fabulous ray of sunshine that had me smiling from ear to ear early this morning as I nursed a coffee and prepared for the ride to work.

Smiles, legs going like the clappers, laughing, reversing into brother, doing stuff with brother, "that" DH catch... all brilliant. 😀

A doff of the cap to you sire! 😀

I fear with the slow realisation of inevitability that it will rain at the 24/12 this year, even though I am doing daily dances to the sun God...!

When I am trudging round cursing the mud, the rain, my grindy gears, my squeaky brakes, my leaking waterproof & my lack of fitness I will remember that video & I will stop cursing it all.....! And I will enjoy riding, whatever the conditions!
Thanks. Great vid! 😀

what a great video, brought back some great memories for me. For 8 months of 2008 I worked as a sales rep for a company who sold specialist cycles for the less able, mainly dutch ones from a company called Van Raam. Despite the fact it was my least paid job and doing 40,000 miles in 8 months, I got more job satisfaction in those 8 months than the rest of my entire career. I'm 39.

To see the enjoyment cycles bring to children, adults and their families is immense. I've had kids who spend all day in wheelchairs out on bikes, riding, extending their legs, smiling and feeling totally included with kids in the street.

I've left many a mother in tears as I've driven off as they've seen their kids in a totally different light. Sorry to the OP if this is a bit heavy but some great memories have come back..

Amazing! He's really going for it with so much energy. Is it possible to top that amount of happiness? Surely it cannot possible, he is fantastic.

Although I now have ideas for an independent rear suspension trike (with rear camber for stability) and a fat-trike in my head now.....

Late to the party but those two videos are why I ride bikes. The thrill of your first independence in those two clips.
Has James got a sister whose jeans he can "borrow" for fixie riding!

James managed to roll his trike at the weekend on a left hander through the trees. I was relieved to find him grinning from ear-to-ear when I picked him out of the undergrowth. *Phew* Hopefully he now understands what off-camber means, because he's not that easy to keep up with 🙂

On last night's ride James and Toby pretended to be Gee Atherton and Steve Peat, bless them. We managed a ride without rolling the trike, but James has now learnt that rolling a fixie backwards down a hill then stomping on the pedals causes a little wheelie. Perhaps I should be showing the boys some more Chris Akrigg videos 😉

He certainly shows he has plenty of power in his peddaling, I said before it looks like you could even up the gearing, I think the weelie proves this. 🙂 But then you have the issue of keeping up!!

Top updates, stilltortoise!

Have to ask - has anyone put (both) vids up for Midweek Mini Movies- If stilltortoise agrees - these really need a bigger airing - lessons in life, let alone cycling? 🙂
