Been trawling through previous threads.....

But, which is lighter, mrp x1 chain device, or n stop and bash ( was thinking a Ti bash might be light?)

if I ditch the front derailleur, cabling and two rings an go with one of the above options how much weight will I actually save?

depending on what you are using, probably nearly a pound. i took off an xt shifter, cable, xt front mech, xtr granny and straitline bash and that all weighed @ 450g. i think those mrp things are about 60g.

Don't discount the Paul Components Chain Keeper at 69g. It also, should it be muddy, amasses virtually no mud or detritus - unlike the MRP 1.x I soon ditched...

I have a titanium bash (bought from the lad who sells them in the classifieds) and an Nstop, they weigh next to nothing and work out pretty cheap compared to anything else I've seen!

If you want a lightweight bash and cheap, take a look at BBG Bashguards.

reckon it cost me £35ish for both if I remeber rightly, it looks smart and less cluttered - if that makes sense. (although I did discover that being a fat @$£II$I£d, means there are just some climbs you really need the granny ring!)

I can't find the guys name, but will let you know if I do. try putting a wanted ad in the classifieds, might work

StuE - having run them both, do you have a preference between the mrp 1.x or the jumpstop + bash?

Pedalhead-both worked fine, just prefer the look of the MRP

Just bought a N-Gear jump stop but might just leave the bash for now, to see if I really need it. Found this one on CRC, think I quite like 😳
