My son is looking around in the sales for his own bike.ย He's currently using my Cube Stereo, riding enduro trails in the Tweed Valley.ย He's quite keen to try some racing too.ย
We've seen the Foxy Carbon R for a good price but the reviews I've read suggest it's maybe better suited to more experienced riders as it's not very forgiving of rider error.ย Would he be better with the Superfoxy for enduro?ย ย
I've got an older foxy. The one alloy XR from years ago that was plagued with snapping rear triangles. It's been run as 160/140 most of its days
I've found it a capable bike, capable well beyond my ability and wants me to use less brake.
I'd buy anotherย
Moray's got a Superfoxy, I dropped him a message pointing him at the thread
When Northwind mentioned this thread, my first thought was very GW-esque and along the lines of Steven's more a Raze kinda rider 🤣
More travel is (nearly) always going to be more forgiving of rider error, so I wouldn't pay much attention to any review with comments like that regardless of the bike brand.
Both the Foxy and Superfoxy are capable bikes, it just depends if he wants that bit more travel to maximise speed over rougher gravity assisted trails, over something with a bit less travel that will be a bit more pedal friendly but will need a bit more rider effort on rougher stuff.
I've got a Superfoxy, and I like it as my big travel do anything bike, but I also still like my short travel Django and the Scout hardtail, although I've only really ridden the Superfoxy this winter.
If he wants to have a spin on it, he'd be welcome to, although I'm not sure an XL will fit him that well, and it's currently needing pivot bearings (only noticed them last week, but they're still the original ones)
Does anyone still listen to what GW or whatever pseudonym he's using now, says?ย An XL might be a tad large, thanks for the offer but he is a bit bigger than the last time you saw him.ย Having just tried a bike with no brakes he might be reluctant to try another one that needs attention.
