Just spent the first hour of the working day looking at how much a decent bmx is. I knew this would happen.

I did this. It'll pass.

I didn't get a fancy photographer when I went - just mrshora who couldn't get me non-blurred or kept on missing me 😆

Yeah thanks very much for organising Gaz and Chipps for doing the photos. I was also buzzing afterwards and couldn't sleep for a while. Definitely up for doing it again.

Already got a BMX but it's got no brakes at the mo!

I'm loving those photos, thanks Chipps, and thanks Gaz for organising it.

It's a question of when will i be going again, not if!

Massive thanks to Gaz and Chipps!

I'll give them a call about booking the Velodrome for some fixie track bike action too.

Well up for this too.

Daz, I'll put £20 towards your BMX if you ride it to work.

Thinking about it, if I did buy one I could keep it at work, the underground car park is just about perfect for nice, dry practice

Sadly xiphon I think next week is back to being covered in mud and cowsh*t on some rainy windswept moor.

Nice blog! 🙂

The “OK Guys, Ride-em start” is actually "random start": there's a variable gap between the guy saying "Watch the gate" and the gate-drop itself. It's to make the drop less predictable and reduce false starts.

Gaze where did you buy your bike? Been looking around and most of the online bmx shops are out of stock. Seems like there's no chain reaction/wiggle/merlin in the bmx world. Although I did find this which looks like a decent bargain...

Can I come and watch? It'd be priceless to see the faces of a load of roadies if you turned up on a club run on a bmx!

Remarkably the Mrs has approved my request for a new bike! It came at a price though after I had to agree to her spending £300 on a bloody painting by some artist she likes. Off to Winstanleys I go!

I'm still torn between a cruiser and a 20in bike. Can't decide. But then I spotted this which although double the amount of money I want to spend, it's a hell of a bike (too good for me adimittedly!), and a hell of a bargain....

Gaz Gaz Gaz! Starting to get expensive now.

I casually mentioned it to Mrs Spider last night and she told me not to be so "Bloody daft".

I may still buy a full face lid for the next time I suggest making a rash mid life crisis purchase.

That felt looks a bit tasty and it's in preston . I would have had that if I hadn't bought a bike last weekend.

I'm in as well purleez. Theres a chap here at work wants to join us too. He's a mountain biker and, after I'd told him about our evening, he suggested it too the lads he rides with. They all looked at him like he was mental. So he wondered if he could join us instead.

I'd spotted that Felt in Preston too. Not that I'm looking, or owt. Honest!

I'd love to do the 29th too.

I have this, but I think the 19.5" TT is too short compared to the ones we were riding, and I'm not sure I trust the original straight laced front wheel. I bought it as a wreck for £25 from a kid whose dad resprayed it in the Caterpillar factory, then spent about another £200 on bits.

Trust me, 19.5" will feel way too cramped for anyone over 5'6".

Mine's 21.5", but the previous frame was 21.75". Stem length and bar height play an important part too.

Hmm, thanks. I've found it okay on skateparks, but riding there and back kills my back (whereas a few hours on the ones we rode at the track didn't).

Maybe it's new frame time. That'd mean the only things I haven't replaced would be the forks, bars and stem 🙂 Might just whack a one piece crank back in and sell it. It looked way better like that, the modern bits don't go well with the retro frame.
