Unless anyone has other suggestions I was thinking we should go up the Col Du Grand Batard - Off road climb to the White House - Mordor Traverse and descent to the lake. Then Climb up the other side towards the cross roads but turning off to the right to do the cheeky descent I've mentioned to a few on here that runs down the back of the Rugby pitches. (I've only done this in the day before and have gone OTB every time 🙂 )

Or we can do the usual.

I like the idea of a bit of Mordor traverse - might be nice to do a descent that doesn't require a safety briefing before hand as well 😉

That definitely rules out the rugby club one then! 😯

We can climb up to the cross roads and then turn right over tunshill and round the back of the rugby club instead (the way we usually end up).

Haha I was joking about the safety briefing, Daz was like an air stewardess on Monday night: "Certain death can be found here, here and here, refreshments will be served at the end"

That was where Binners tried to do a spot of euthanasia on himself.

Does the air ambulance fly at night?

I wouldn't mind but I've ridden that descent hundreds of time without any problem. That last time I decided it might be more interesting if I tried to remove my kneecap with my bars

Excellent Suggestion binners!

Do you think the wine press will have any objection if we brought our own pies?

And more importantly, will HtS call into the Church en route and collect a shipping order? 😉

Pork and Chilli Jam please! 😆

Is that chap in the picture actually Brad Pitt, or just some bloke dressing up as Brad Pitt?

Its actually me Harry. As you well know, myself and Brad are virtually indistinguishable from one another. Its like we were separated at birth.

And just for you Harry.... the result of my little mishap last time out....

I'll try not to go for a repeat performance on Monday. It bloody hurt!!!! 😥

Ooof!

I'm not sure it was wise for a virtual herbivore like me to eat such a dense (and fabulous) pork pie so late at night last week. It played havoc the day after. 😯

Where did you do that Binners! Looks like you could have done some serious damage... to a fence or hillside anyway! 😛

I notice on twitter that 'San Marino' is trending at the minute. No idea why but can only assume that JJ has been back and shaved another second off his time!

Stick me down as a possible maybe for the ride. I will confirm on Monday but HtS take note - i will want the chilli jam pork pie too!

Bloody hell binners, that looks a right mess. I hadn't realised you'd had an off up there although it may explain why the terrain looked so different last time I was up that way 😀

Keep the technical descent in I reckon. Also dunno if anyone's done it before but there's a great bit of singletrack on the other side of the white house which adds about 2-3km on to the route if anyone fancies that for a bit of a change.

I'll probably be there. Got a developing case of man-flu but should be ok after a large dose of MTFU.

That's if anyone else is going. Otherwise I'll just stay in and be ill.

Not looking good for me I'm afraid.

The garage is cleaner than it was but still can't find that torx to tighten the very sloppy pivots.

I'm out too. Just taken me about 25mins longer than normal to get home thanks to the headwind from hell, it's pissing it down, I can't feel my toes, and I"ve got a cold 😥 I do some daft things but heading back out in that would be sheer lunacy. Kudos to anyone who braves Mordor in that wind.

Did anyone make it out then? Weather was that uniquely grim horizontal rain. And I've done Mordor a couple of times when the weathers come in like that. Its not much fun. Once when it waited until we got right in the middle then started horizontal hail-stoning. It was like being bead blasted. You really couldn't be more exposed up there

I'd be very surprised. I rode past Hollingworth Lake on my way home and it was bloody windy down there let alone up top and it got worse later on. Would've been a massive great tailwind on Mordor though so it could've been fun...
