The route depends on how much it rains between now and then.

For any newcomers we do about 90-120 minutes at “relaxed” pace.

Nobody gets dropped, not even the ####s.

Nobody gets dropped, they just occasionally make an early tactical retreat to the bar 😀

Who's been asking you to touch your toes then?

Apologies for the slovenly lack of artwork provision last week. And the failure to show up. Now I'm working for myself again, I simply don't have the spare time during the day that I used to when I was employed. Funny that, innit? However, I will rustle something up with the felt tips this week. And I will be there on Monday 😀

My toes? Touching my knees would be an achievement at the moment.

Right you orrible lot, who's playing out tomorrow night?

Anyone been up Mordor way this week? I reckon Friday's all day downpour might have made it a no-go but I'm happy to have a crack at it if everyone else fancies it, otherwise I'm going to suggest playing it safe and doing the usual route but with the Col Du Grand Batard to [s]kill us[/s] finish things off with.

Thoughts?

Think I'll probably make it tomorrow after all. Not been out over the weekend but it's pretty dry-ish round my way so Mordor should/might be ok. Does it even get that bad? Isn't most of it on rocky paths? I suppose the grassy bit on the descent would be interesting if wet but think it'll be ok as long as it doesn't rain again.

Blimey. Apparently I'm allowed out to play two weeks in a row; I'm not sure what I've done to earn the necessary points for that but I'm not about to question it, see you tomorrow.

Yep. Unless anyone fancies turning left, going up, sharp right, up some more then a cheeky techy down before the pub bit??

We can assess opinion/time left at an appropriate point.

just driven past on the way home and it was murky as hell up there. Looks like smog-bound london circa 1850. Not that that will matter though in the dark anyway. No wind though so Mordor still could work. Bit drizzly too but not 'raining' as such (yet).

As binners is too busy choosing [s]spinny chairs and executive toys for his new role as chief exec of his own design studio[/s] whether to buy a standard or luxury box of Crayola perhaps this can suffice for this weeks poster?

Well that was bloody brilliant! Loved it!

Not an easy ride, certainly not for me anyway! It was good to try new trails over the other side of the White House. They were good and i'd like to venture back over that way soon.

The Mordor Traverse was more difficult than the last time i did it but the descent (thanks to a tactical wrong turn) was excellent. Pushed myself tonight and feel good for it!

Shame the pub was closed on our return...

Oh and hope the broken / dislocated finger is sorted quickly! Wouldn't have fancied spending a few hours in A&E tonight!

Great ride and new trails.

Thanks for those that nursed me down. Just has an x ray and initial verdict is spiral fracture (sounds ace).

Just sat waiting for official verdict and hopefully some manipulation so that I can wear gloves again.

Forgot how normal most folk are until you sit in a+e at midnight.

Sorry to have missed last night, legs are still ruined from a weekend running in the Lake District - stairs are not my friends.

Ouch! Finger injuries are bloody annoying. One of the reasons I stopped climbing. Hope it doesn't keep you off the bike too long.

There's quite a bit of decent stuff up on that moor. When it's lighter/warmer we should do the whole circuit of the reservoirs from the White House. Missing the pub was probably my fault for the extra bit so apologies for that. Did anyone discuss next week's venue?

Smashing ride, really enjoyed that, cheers folks. Probably a good thing the pub was shut as I didn't get to bed till well after 12 as it was...

spiral fracture

Cor, top work! It looked bonkers bending off at that crazy angle. Bonus points for riding down a tricky pennine in the dark on a rigid singlespeed with that going on, I reckon. Hope it heals quickly and doesn't give you any more bother than strictly necessary.

Think he'll still be sat in A&E 🙂

Ruddy I'm surprised you went. I think I'd have opted for gaffer taping it to the adjacent finger, going to bed then going to work the next day rather than sitting in A&E all night.

Goo d point. One of us should really have let him borrow a bouncy bike to get to the pub, just to take the edge off really.

Not me, obviously because my bike would have been too big for him 🙂

RIght... lets put all this finger business to one side for the time being, and concentrate on the major issue here..

YOU DIDN'T GO TO THE PUB?!!! 😯

No beer? No crisps? No pies? Dear god! I leave you lot to your own devices for a couple of weeks, and already its come to this?!!! Does nobody take any pride in anything any more?!! 😕

Finger is a little sore this morning with black bruising snaking up my hand.

Have a cracking picture of the x ray (confirmed spiral fracture) and sideways finger but wouldn't know where to start to upload and get it here. Could send it to the BMX email crowd but don't want to spam you all.

Dr Dazh - should have taken your advice, all they did was try to straighten it (didn't work) and then tape it to my other fingers. Praying it will straighten over the next few weeks...

The ride down was interesting, particularly the water bars and a kind fellow did offer a suspended bike, but thought better the devil I know.

Thanks for the thoughts, likely off the bike for 4-6 weeks so when I return it will be to warm, light evenings with dusty trails and open pubs.

Late edit - if you ever come off and your hand starts swelling, take off any rings.

Can't believe we gave him all that sympathy for that! 😉

Apart from HtS who called him Mary and told him to crack on! 😆

Seriously though ruddy, hope you heal quick in time for the decent weather.

Ouch! Hope it straightens out and heals quickly.

That was an ace ride. Although someone seems to have nicked my lungs. I need them back by the weekend please!

We should strike that pub off the list of approved venues too - bad show all round.

Ruddy what you need is some finger tape. Available from all good climbing shops. Finger tape solves all finger injuries*, you'll be back on the bike within a couple of weeks.

*It doesn't, but go down any climbing wall and see how many people use it, you'd think it does.

Look on the bright side, you get to take some nice painkillers until the swelling goes down.
