Unlikely I'm afraid, but if plans change, is this going to be a BH weekend early start/longer ride?

Sorry. I just do as I'm told. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I was just doing a nice piece of artwork too. It'll do for the week after maybe? ๐Ÿ˜€

We're only going over to Hebden Bridge though. So if anyone fancies a ride there on Sunday...?

What's the new plan?

What about something a bit different? A sojourn south to Marple/New Mills?

Roman Lakes-ish?

Yeah I was thinking start at Marple Bridge, through Roman Lakes - Lantern Pike - Hayfield - Middle Moor - Rowarth - Mellor Cross - Strines - Marple Bridge

Basically this route but starting and finishing in marple with an extra loop taking in middle moor from hayfield.

That's if we're thinking an early start*. If a late start we can cut out the Hayfield/Middle Moor bit which will make it a bit shorter.

*I need to confirm I can do an early start first, shouldn't be a problem though.

...and for anyone concerned about driving times, google maps says 30mins from the M66/M62 Junction (in rush hour).

Oooooh, my stomping grounds ๐Ÿ˜€

Something like this? There's loads of little loops you can throw in

Yup that's exactly what I was thinking, except going up linnet clough and down strines seeing as the Strawberry downhill has been flattened.

Any pub recommendations?

We normally park up at the ringers* but the car park will be busy on a BH monday.

There's ample parking on the road by there though, i'm sure NBT will be along to advise.

Rounds have been getting more expensive in there of late but it's still the closest thing i've got to a local.

To save going up and over the cross twice you can go along the canal* and down to strines stations, up to the fox then have a nice** climb up the golf course to the top of Zig

*depending on the weather

I'm easy on the time. Not overly fussed about an early start. Perhaps a slightly earlier time of 7 or 7.30pm? Others can decide, I don't have young kids so makes little difference to me.

I'll be up for it Daz. I would prefer a 6.30 / 7 start just so i'm not back too late. Probably had enough of family stuff by Monday anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't own a singlespeed anymore. Knee problems ๐Ÿ™ Am away or I'd offer guiding.

Parking can be a bugger round there unless you;re on the pub car park. Mark the landlord is ok with people parking while they ride, as long as you go into support local business afterwards of course. Narrow roads all round so on-street parking not great. Maybe consider parking down the hill around The Rec on Arkwright Road or Oldknow road. The Navigation is close to that location as well. All pubs in Marple are Robbie's pubs. Atleast the Ringers have Hartley's Cumbria Way on tap at the moment

Nobody was suggesting 30 miles, the strava link that Daz put up involved him riding to Marple from Manchester!

No definitely not 30 miles. The short route is about 20k, the longer one closer to 30km. A day after the Dyfi Enduro there's no way I want to be riding 30 miles either ๐Ÿ™‚

I know there's a lot of climbing, Craig, but at least you got some sort of structure/construction on top of a hill.

Back to towers next week?

On a (I suspect cheeky) bit off Ridge Road. Funny thing was he almost decapitated himself on a low branch first and we all rode past chuckling.

So we missed the faceplant just moments later.
