Hi Everyone,

Please excuse a daft question from a newby, but I have just bought a new (old) bike on fleabay and am thinking about changing the cranks. Currently, they are SLX with a single ring and look a litle tatty. They are running on a Hope BB. The rear mech and cassette are XT.

I've been offered an XX1 Dub and Race Face Next G5 crankset at knock down prices. Which is the better option?

Again, apologies for the daft question.

You may need a new BB for either of those. Unless there's a Sram adaptor for Hope BBs.

I'd take the Race Face myself, based on unhappy experiences of Sram BBs in the past, but IRL I'd just stick with the SLX and spend the money on something that would make more difference to the ride.

I'd steer clear of raceface carbon cranks, they are very suseptable to failing, normally pedal inserts coming unbonded.

Yup, I've heard way too many tales of pedal inserts coming unbonded to go anywhere near RF carbon cranks full stop, let alone ones without a warranty!
