Got a Diablo as my main light and I need a new lid, was looking at the Montaro but when I had it on the movement from the MIPS was quite a bit, anyone use one with lights up top? How is it? Or was this just the demo and over played with in the shop?
I used a Joystick on mine a few times and it did move around more than I liked. The pads in the Montaro fell apart before I got used to it....
if the search function on here worked I could direct you to the tales of woe around Montaro pads...
Seen the threads on that but also heard new ones were better - mate has had them when he was rep for them and all seem to be better now
and if edit worked I'd also add not tried anything that fits my awkward shaped head as well
I've got a Giro montaro and use it with a joystick - never had any problems or noticed any movement..
I bought a ‘new’ one late summer to see if they were sorted, as my previous ones had been late 16 early 17. The late summer one lasted 2 rides.
I would happily buy another if I could be confident in it. Currently using a Spesh Ambush but preferred fit of Montaro.
Also if the pads are the new black ones, you won't have any problems with them falling apart (or so i'm told).
Nope, I've had a set of black ones die on me. They were supplied separately from the helmet to replace the coloured ones that died.
No issues at all with both a joystick and Diablo. Holes in the right place and no pad breakages to report from one I bought about 12 months ago
This thread has inspired me to take a punt on a new one from Wiggle....... we’ll see 😜
Works well for me and I’ve hacked the exposure mount with the montaro camera Mount for a nice quick release option
Used the Montaro with Joysticks and the Exposure helmet mount for two or three years now, no problems here.
Jambo - I have just ordered one that colour from Wiggle. I am hoping it has better pads than the 8 sets that failed on me over 3 previous Montaro lids !
