If you just want to suggest a bike for a 13 year old you can skip to the end and save yourself reading this guff.
Managed to get my less than keen cyclist 13 year old son out on a ride, it has always been a struggle to get him out although he does enjoy it once we actually get out. My cunning plan involve a mixed on road/offroad ride to a country pub, have something to eat, bringing along my brother and his girlfriend to help lighten the atmosphere between us ( due to the friction of getting him out) wife would meet us at the pub. Ride out was fine all had a good time. Problems ensued when my son realised we expected him to ride and not go in the car ! anyway after bit of a frosty start( to say the least) he really, really enjoyed the ride back, so much so he was quite enthusiastic when I suggested he needed a new bike as his Bein 26 looks decidedly small now.
Computers are defiantly his thing and we give him as much support with this as we can hardware, software and coding lessons. I am not expecting him to become a keen cyclist, but we can not let him sit on the computer all day in the holidays, and selfishly there is nothing better than riding with your boy.
So...
Any recommendations for a 16" frame ( I recon the one scandal would be perfect but they have stopped making them) I have 100mm forks and will transplant stuff from my hardtail to build up his new bike.
And.. Any what other gentle ploys have you used to get less than keen kids out riding.
