I've just bought a new MTB and have nowhere indoors to store it due to my other half having moved recently (my old bike lived in her garage). Any advice about the best way to stop it getting too badly damaged / weathered / rusted?
Security's not an issue and it's got a bike-specific sheet covering it. I probably ride it 2-3x / week and clean it fairly well after every ride.
My mate keeps both his mountain bikes on hooks on the kitchen ceiling. Only house rule is that he must clean and dry them when he gets home first.
He had his shed broken into and lost a bike a few years ago.
My other half moved out a year or so ago, because she thinks I'm an idiot. Some of my expanding bike collection has a nice dry spare bedroom to stay in now.
As per the 1st post, I had one of these type hanger in a communal hall (though mine has a locking point), to store my commuter high up above the other tenants bike.
Otherwise asguard?
Buy her a nice bike - she'll want to keep it inside.
Then why can't you sore yours in the house?

See, this is taking it seriously ๐
I don't live with the gf, but share a house with three others. There's no space in communal areas and my room is up two flights of narrow stairs, so a pain in the arse to get up and down.
I'll look into a shed. Don't think I can afford an asgard.
Leave it in your car or buy a banger? Maybe rent a garage .
Oh, Halfords used to sell a "breathable bike cover" - I bought one 5 years ago, when we bought the house and I was keeping my bike outside.
I must say - it was very good, mega-strong and it did allow the bike to dry. Kept the rain at bay with no issues.
Well, it's still going strong, but now I only use it when we have guests and the bike must leave the dining room...
Just bought a wooden shed. I've always wanted a shed.

You'll be asking how to keep the shed warm next..

I know an old lady who bought a bike...
Once you've sorted storage, invest in a can of ACF-50. Expensive but the only thing I've found that really stops corrosion - I ride a Triumph Bonneville year round and it works a treat.
