We will be in touch
Which ones are we all using or do you prefer a multi tool?
I’ve had a look at the Topeak and the Pro bike but open to suggestions. I’ve got a few multi tools but like the neatness of the sets and you can never have enough tools right!
Syncros do a nice one
i have one of these in my work bag but its a bit chunky for on the bike.
I've got the topeak one.
Nice bit of kit.
Think it might be slightly heavier than a normal multi tool but that doesn't bother me.
Only problem I have with it is with brake calipers between the chain and seat stay. The extension bar it comes with catches on the seat stay meaning you can't torque the bolt up correctly or it would round out. I keep a normal hex key with me for this.
I have a Topeak Rocket Rachet and think its great.
Thought it might be fiddly with cold, wet muddy hands etc ... but so far its been fine. Just need to stay a bit organised if using a couple different sizes and put the socket back in the holder rather than on the floor. But it feels like nice well made tool.
These are the three i have
on the wera front there is
or PB Swiss

They all work, all have pros and cons
Just had a look at the Syncros set, looks a nice bit of kit but wonder if it’s worth the extra money over the Topeak.
Manage to sort most stuff with the SWAT tools and a Lidl folding tool, cant run to an original Leatherman
My Dinglespeed novelty bike needs a 15mm spanner for the rear hub, so I just drilled a cheap spanner to fit bottle bosses and while I was at it I welded a 1/4" hex drive socket to it so I can take whatever hex bits I fancy along and have some mechanical advantage, I still need to model and print a tool holder (just taped a spare one to the seat tube for now). The whole lot will be held on with knurled thumb screws, I'll try to get a photo later. It's quite hilarious but so far cheaper then "fixit stix" which do a similar thing for quite a substantial price...
Mini Bosch ratchet, £11, with a load of bits. It doesn’t have a portable holder, but it’s a good little tool, great for undoing hard to get to areas.
Deal of the day: Bosch 2607017322 26-Piece Screwdriver Bit and Ratchet Set (Extra Hard Quality, Drill Driver and Screwdriver Accessories), Black, 3.2 cm*12.1 cm*9.0 cm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HY7LV6E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_DDWGYY5JHCRBN7P6C9MY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have a bosch one, #2607017160
High quality, reasonable price.
Never thought about carrying it on the bike tbh, but it’s a dead handy bit of kit.
Originally bought so I could adjust the headlights on my scooby.
Keep looking at one of these when people ask what I want for Christmas. Probably need one for the garage rather than out on rides, to be honest.
The Topeka ratchet rocket is a serious tool. Packs smaller and flatter than most of the other options. Not sure about the user above saying it didn't to break calipers the tools directly into the ratchet are shorter than any non cut down Allen key I have used.
If you just want a ratchet with he /torx/screwdrivers I got a mini one from superstar years ago and it’s still going strong.
Ideal for putting together ikea furniture and cot beds, etc. it’s not been in my bike bag for years though as most stuff can be sorted with a multi-tool. If you actually want a socket set then I have no idea what to get.
Here we go, my Heath-Robinson spanner/socket tool:

It works quite nicely, I just need the thumb screws now.
I'm mulling making something similar/neater and more compact for my other bikes now.
@cookeaa - but how do you remove it from the bottle bosses it's mounted to?
A pair of knurled M5 shoulder screws (on their way)
I'm sure it's going to need some refinements.
Cookeaa, that’s ace!
