Just travelling back from a family trip to Excenevex on Lac Leman and Lac Chalain in the Jura Alpes so thought I'd do a little review for anyone who fancies a similar trip.
Managed to sneak in two days biking, one in Chatel and one in Metabief.
Chatel was OK, but hired a Scott Gambler DH bike from Switch 5 which had a very loose bottom bracket and forks and shock which needed servicing IMO. This meant I lacked confidence all day but the red and black down to Linderets, and the Komatrautrail off the road down to Chatel, were excellent. Lift system seemed very efficient, and the views were of course stunning. Just wish I could've taken my own bike.
Metabief was smaller but brilliant. A really flowy green, two fast reds with good jumps and two excellent challenging blacks - one of which had me over the bars! Hired a Kona Precept 150 from Adrenaline Point which was really well looked after and set up by the shop.
Good sandy beach at Excenevex and pretty town nearby called Yvoire. Campsite at Lac Chalain was v good, though they insist on trunks in the pool! Cascades de Herisson worth a trip.
