Anybody got any advice regarding tyre choice for 75k marathon this weekend. This is my first merida and not sure about what to expect terrain wise. Usually ride 2.1 kenda nevegals in the peaks but i also have some michelin dry and bonty mud x. Full sus or hardtail? Any advice would be welcome. Cheers

Yes I'd use tyres and a bike if I were you.

A short travel light fs would be fine with 2.1's

I doubt that you're going to win so it won't really make any difference.

Well unless you don't use tyres or a bike..... ๐Ÿ˜›

The mudx's will be just the job if it is wet.
But why would anyone do an enduro on negegals? They're tractor tyres aren't they?

Wonny j - Think you're right about the nevegals, they do drag a bit!

rode some of the course last weekend while doing another route.

The moor land is very draggy and it was bone dry last week so faster rolling the better.
I'll be using speed kings on my new bike (Whyte 19 Carbon btw ๐Ÿ˜† )

I'm on 2.1 Speedkings, but that's just me. I might have made the wrong choice ๐Ÿ˜‰

Riding my Orange 5 as my race hardtail isn't built yet.

Sure you'll probably be perfectly fine on whatever you normally ride.

Lightweight short travel XC FS with nice fast rolling tyres.

I'd say just ride what you've got, stick the others in the car if you've space just in case it is a mudbath. Like someone else said, what bike you use (within reason- obviously a full-on DH bike isn't ideal!) doesn't really matter unless you're out to win it!

That said, when I replaced my Nevegals with Fire XC Pros I realized how sluggish they'd been and I wouldn't be too keen on doing an enduro on them now.

On a more practical note.

We'll be running a Downhill Highroller and an old Michelin on our tandem.

Race you for 753/754th position. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
