Just back from watching the race in alp d'huez, well really I only got to see the qualifiers as we moved on after Friday. It was awesome to watch, there were so many qualifiers it was like watching loads of separate races every 20 minutes. It was interetsing to watch the diferent abilities of the riders, the first 15 or 20 in each qualifier were fast, top 10 were obsenely, ridiculously quick and after 20 or so they slowed down a bit with a few backmarkers bobbing round (and actually some getting caught by the next round!).

I know there were a few on here were going, how did people do? Anyone who qualified for the main race did a good job, anyone in the top 200 or so should feel really pleased with themselves.

cheers all

R

I missed the start of my qualifier (Some people started queuing far too early). So only managed 115th, missing out on a mass start again! Still it was way more fun than last year; I've never seen as much dust!

Hopefully they'll take note and assign times for being at the lifts on the day of the qualifier like they do for the main races.

183rd in the affinity, and about 850 overall by time.
How did you miss your qualifier? Surely you must have realised there would be a hell of a lot of people up there.
We got up there at about 9ish and sat outside the cafe at the quali lift station for a while till we could be bothered to go up. were still up there early though

You must have been one of the guy's that just seeked in front of me at the finish, I came 185th ๐Ÿ™‚

I though 2hrs would have been enough, it was last year, and I certainly wasn't alone. Lots of people only just made or missed the start. If everyone decided to leave 3hrs or more to get up then loads more people would have been late. There were women queueing in alpe d'heuz at 9.00am, thats 4hrs before there start time! 2000 people is a lot to get up the mountain, it's obviously never going to work if everyone turns up at a similar time.

i got 117th in the promo which im pretty chuffed with especially after a disasterous start (i qualified on the 4th row and lost 100 places before i got onto the snow)....1 hour 24...2 of the guys i was with were in the main event and got 142nd and 320th (punctured) i think.
but i think any1 who makes it down in a decent time deserves a pat on the back cos its monsterous course

It was my first time and after registering stupidly early, I was given race number 45 and placed on the 2nd row of the 1st qualifier!

I ended up 82nd in quali due to a crap start and not being agressive enough and eventually managed a 1hr28 in the Promo to come about 585th overall.

I was pretty chuffed but I know I could do better as I started around 350th in the promo and finished 180th, so with a better qualifying effort I reckon I could get into the Mega.

Cant wait for next year!

Broke chain then got rear mech wrapped around swingarm on climb in Qualifier. Gutted as i did the exact same thing last year (impatience and diving for non-existant gaps).

Anyway, got into Affinity 1 and did 1hr 30mins. Went over the bars on Snow - I landed about 20 feet further down than bike and I kept sliding, whereas bike dug in and stopped. Got baulked around the back of mountain on the singletrack after snow near footbridge. Went over bars coming around a bend at full tilt to find a que of rider walking up part of the wooded singletrack, then highsided on a wide off-camber corner just prior to road climb at allemont - a year's worth of crashes for me.

Got 85th in Affinity (32nd in Male +30), and 650th overall. Not really happy with results but enjoyed my riding a lot more than last year. Just now trying to work out how to get pass stamped for next year.
