Got a new bike on the way with

FSA Omega ME Alloy, 46/30 + FSA MegaExo

Thinking ahead are they really as bad as reviews suggest?

Will any future crank upgrades work as long as 19mm spindle?

Cheers!

I had one on my Jamis grrrravel bike, it lasted about a year and a bit of shitty dirty lanes riding. When it died i replaced the BB and chainset with a reasonably priced Tiagra unit. Much much nicer.

If upgrading cranks, just change the BB - they aren't expensive. So don't worry. At least it's not pressfit

I had one on my focus cx and I wore a couple out. Not as good as basic shamans bb IMHO. I think your stuck with it unless you change your chainset as it's different size to the shimano axle. They a lot dearer to replace Ashwell.

Yes, they are rubbish. Mine used to last about 4 months whereas a Shimano lasts 1-2 years, plus you can get a Ultegra for under £15 if you look around.

I am thinking of fitting Shimano 105 in the future anyhow, just wasn't sure if the threads would be compatible. If they are thats great 😀

Yes, they don't last long.

More importantly for me the cost of replacing them is high (@£35-40), especially compared to Shimano £10 a time Deores that last a full year.

Swap chainset to Shimano. Job done.

Does Eagle 12 speed need the chain set?

Only if it does, I need to install a GPX BB for the crank and remove the Shimano.
