Well, it's been a while since the River East Loop, so about time for another one. I think there were murmurings of a West Side Pootle, so over to the West London Massive for this one. Or any other suggestions, of course.

I want to see pics of possible highlights/landmarks, and routes that will be intellectually stimulating; inertesting architecture, historical places, that sort of thing. away from roads as much as possible, is important.

So, come on, people! The last one was good fun, let's see if a Western excursion can bring such joy!

Will you be riding responsibly this time and not scaring pedestrians a la charge fixie bikes? ๐Ÿ™‚

OK, I'll have a think - how about meet in Richmond, then back along the river over to Isleworth, along the River Crane past Twickers, out round Feltham and the Young Offenders, Hatton Cross, under the final approach at Heathrow, up to Hayes, maybe then across to Minet park - quick lap of the cycle circuit (if there's no racing) then back along the cut past Southall and into Brentford past the lunatic asylum?
Could pick up some tube stations along the way if you want?
ps RB - check your email eh?

It will always be on a weekend, PP. Put dates you can make down, then. The Pootle Leader has ultimate say on when it will be, though.

So, how it works: Suggestions of possible routes, bit of arguing, possible dates, route + leader nominated, consensus reached- BOSH!

Don't ride; Pootle.

4th July? on a Saturday? the prologue of the TdF? are you insane?
could be possible though, otherwise 11/12 July OK - just as long as I've set the PVR up (just checked Pyrenees stages on the 11th/12th).
No fancy riding involved (it is London after all) we could divert past the BMX track at Stockley Park for some gnarly face/dirt action. I'll probably ride my CX bike again.
Is Richmond easy for people to get to?

How about 4th July then?
Meet in Richmond mid morning? Say 10.30am? On the river front by Richmond Bridge?
I can sort out a route which everyone can then complain about, and we could end up at the Express Tavern or the City Barge, then stagger off homewards?

OK, OK.
Anyone that's interested say when you can make it, and we'll come to an arrangement that'll hopefully upset the smallest number of people.
I hope you're all looking forwards to cycling past the Nestle coffee factory in Hayes?

Sounds good to me, aP!

Brentwood or Southend?

Where??? S'like ****ing Holland or sumfink!!!

London Pootles must be within the Greater London area. Nowt against a ride in Essex, mind. I've been promised a go on a combine harvester in Frinton, so a Sarfend ride might be fun!

We recce'd some of it today - nearly got a route sorted, however for you guys we'll miss out the mile of walking down a very narrow path between the Crem and the River with 6' nettles. The BMX track 2/3rds of the way round should offer plenty of opportunities for displays of awesome riding.

I'd like to come too, but 19th is Latitude weekend. I'm pretty sure I can do the 12th though.

I think we should also try and fit the Red Lion in Isleworth into the route as it has the best selection of proper beer in West London.

Ah, I'd almost forgotten about this! Nice one aP.

I think the 19th is good, as it's aP organising, so it should lie with him, as to exactly when the ride takes place. I think that's fair.

Ah, the Red Lion. I can always ask them to put some Twickenham Sundancer on as it comes from the Crane Brewery. On Sunday afternoon there might be music though ๐Ÿ˜•
TBH 12th or 19th is OK for me - although if we go to the RL I'm not sure that I'll be able to persuade them to put the Tour on the telly.

Having just been on the Tube this morning I noticed that the 19th July is London Bikeathon
How about we settle on the 12th July?

So, is anyone up for this on the 19th? Been out this afternoon for a spin round - we've got riverside, street, more riverside, singletrack, jumps, yet more riverside, boardwalk, more street, railway goods depot, canalside, bmx track, park, more canal, 18th century landscaped parkland and pub. Oh, and planes, trains and automobiles.
Meet Richmond bridge at 11am?

We'll wait on the bridge for 15 minutes, if no one turns up we'll go and ride somewhere anyway.
Raoul - I don't think you've quite understood - so far there's been a ride in town, and one along the Thames Estuary, we though it might be nice to go west a bit instead. And anyway Epping - London? It's double the distance from Charing X that Richmond is ๐Ÿ™„

I understand I just don't get it 15 or so miles west to east 25 mile ride round Epping ride back again equals a good day out, well about six hours ;0)

Actually its more like 30 miles to Epping.
But anyway, no one turned up, so it doesn't really matter.
