Is this a good idea? I've always used UST tyres on these rims, but would normal tyres +sealant work just as well?
I've had that working fine. I put door frame sealant in the well of the rim to assist inflation.
Edit: Oops it's X3.1/819's I use.
Thats what i was thinking
Ive tried it with standard tyre/819/rimstrip (as Stans suggests) it worked but now use Bonty TLR tyres- superb and have these on both bikes now. Less weight that UST and havnt had 1 problem, burp or punture and inflate straight up.
what are the stans rim strips like? I was just going to use some window/frame sealant tape to push the tyre out a bit
Thick rubber strip with a valve in, silly money at full retail.
Oh OK, so basically what you need to use on normal rims. WHy do you need to use them on UST rims as well?
Works perfectly on crossmax rims (depending on tyre manufacturer), so I assume 823's will be the same - I use Stan's The solution stuff.
